Live By The 3, Die By The 3..Butler Misses a Championship....AGAIN!

Monday night, the Butler Bulldogs were ready to bring the national title back to Indiana. It was their 2nd straight appearance to the National Championship game, so fans around the country would assume that they wouldn’t have any nerves coming into the game based off of their prior experience. Well as usual, when you assume you are wrong.

The Butler Bulldogs shot the worst field goal percentage in the history of the NCAA tournament title games yesterday shooting the ball at 18.8 percent (12-for-64) from the field. They shot 9-for-33 from beyond the three-point arc and only made 3 two-point field goals, yea I said it only 3 two-point field goals.  You have to give credit to the Uconn Huskies for putting on a great defensive display, but the Bulldogs were missing wide open shots as well.

Butler’s star players and leaders Shelvin Mack and Matt Howard didn’t show up for the last game of their careers. Matt Howard is a senior, and Shelvin Mack more than likely to enter the 2011 NBA Draft. Shelvin Mack scored 13 points on 4-for-15 shooting, and Matt Howard shot 1-for-13 from the field.

Thanks to Butler’s atrocious shooting display, and Uconn’s sub-par play the 2011 NCAA National Title Game was one of the ugliest games of all time.
